Selective Pallet Racking is the most popular and cost effective method for storing and organizing products.
There are many different styles of selective pallet racking, however the most popular style is commonly referred to as “Teardrop”. Teardrop style pallet racking gets its name from the shape of the hole located on the column of the upright frame. There are several manufacturer’s that make teardrop pallet racking and most of these products are interchangeable with each other. Teardrop pallet racking is a bolt-less storage system that allows for quick and easy adjustments.
Since there are no bolts or tools needed to assemble this type of racking, it is very easy to set up. Selective pallet racking comes in almost any size imaginable. The vertical upright frames are typically anywhere from 8 foot to 20 foot tall and the most common depths are 24”, 36”, 42” and 48”. The load beams (commonly referred to as “step-beams”) are the horizontal cross beams that the products rests on. These beams vary in length, height, and gauge of steel depending on the size and weight of the product being stored. The most popular lengths of load beams are 48”, 72”, 96”, 108” 120”, and 144”. Beam capacities are listed per pair and can range from 500# to over 10,000# per pair.
